NEW CANAAN, Conn. The New Canaan Nature Center may be known for birds and bushels, but in September, it will be a place for beer and bands.
The nature center plans to host an adults-only Brew Ha-Ha Beer and Band Festival on Sept. 29 after receiving a temporary permit for the event Tuesday night from the New Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission.
The event will run from 7 to 10 p.m. on its grounds off Oenoke Ridge with the possibility of another event to be held earlier in the afternoon, nature center marketing director Hilary Wittmann said. Eight to 10 regional breweries will participate in the fundraising event, Wittmann said. The event will also feature music from bands and chefs from local restaurants.
Staff and volunteers from the nature center came up with the idea to hold a casual adults-only event on the grounds, Wittmann said. The center has previously hosted anniversary events for adults only.
