The service change is scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Aug. 21, the Department of Transportation said.
Substitute bus service will be provided between the stations in New Canaan and Stamford for certain trains.
The tracks are shut down for the weekend to allow for construction work on the grade crossings.
Substitute buses along the branch will stop at all stations and will operate 15 to 20 minutes earlier than scheduled train times.
Local or express service will be offered, with specific destinations announced as passengers board the buses.
