Heat Wave Soars Into Friday In New Canaan

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – If you’ve had it with the excessive heat—there’s bad news. A heat advisory remains in effect for Fairfield County from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service said.

Residents can again expect a combination of high heat and humidity. The forecast calls for a high temperature near 96 degrees, with heat index values of up to 104.

The highest heat index values will occur during the afternoon and early evening hours, according to the weather service.

An air quality alert will also be in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to midnight, the service said.

The heat wave has lasted nearly a full week. Temperatures are not expected to go below 90 degrees until Sunday.
