More than 600 people attended an April 25 talk on human trafficking featuring retired four-star Gen. Wesley Clark.

Grace Farms Foundation and the New Canaan Library co-hosted a conversation American Growth and Global Leadership with Clark who shared excerpts from his most recent book, "Don’t Wait for the Next War."

Michael Chen, vice chair of Grace Farms Foundation and a former CEO and President of a division of GE and NBC News served as moderator.

“The greatest power Americans have is our values,” said Clark. “We want to use our values as a force for good.”

Clark presented a comprehensive view of America’s past and present political strategies, including the effects of those political decisions in popular culture, to an audience of more than 600. He emphasized the need to build the U.S. economy, strengthen alliances, and reaffirm environmental principles.

“With the right strategy, we will be the nation of the 21st century,” said Clark.

The evening including a book signing, with copies of "Don't Wait for the Next War," provided by Elm Street Books in New Canaan.

As a four-star U.S. general, Clark served as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. Since retiring nearly 20 years ago, he has served as an investment banker, author and in 2004 ran as a Democratic candidate for President.
