Angry customers who tried in vain to get through to Cablevision by phone Sunday night took to Twitter to complain about the lack of service. The utility company told customers that it was "working to get services restored as quickly as possible" and that it was on the outage like "white on rice."

Outages were reported throughout Fairfield, including in Stamford, Norwalk, Darien and Wilton.

Cablevision told customers that it would be working "around the clock" to fix the outage.

The situation made residents particularly frustrated because it coincided with the WWE pay-per-view Summer Slam special and a new episode of the popular AMC show Breaking Bad.
