NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Renovations that have temporarily closed Starbucks lead New Canaan’s news this week. Here is a look at what else took place this week.

? Former baseball player and manager Bobby Valentine joined with more than 1,500 people from the tri-state area for the MMRF Race for Research: Tri-State 5K Walk/Run at New Canaan High School. The event raised $335,000 for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation .

? New Canaan became New Canine with the annual Dog Days event . People and their dogs got to participate in several events like “Smoochin With Your Pooch,” “Wag Away Dog Contest,” and a look-a-like contest.

? Starbucks fans were disappointed Monday to find out the coffee shop has been closed for renovations . It is scheduled to reopen next week.

? A New Canaan woman, Jane Delano, was charged after a dispute at her condo complex. The incident came a couple of weeks after she was arrested in two separate disputes.

? New Canaan’s own Tom Butterworth is taking to the stage in this year’s “Shakespeare on the Sound” production of “As You Like It.” He is playing Adam, a servant, and Corin, a shepherd.
