Russia's Putin Offers Former Westport Resident James Comey Political Asylum

Russian President Vladimir Putin said former Westport resident and recently fired FBI Director James Comey would be offered political asylum if he faces any prosecution, according to multiple reports.

Putin's offer of asylum came as part of an answer to a question during his annual televised appearance on state television.

Putin compared Comey to Edward Snowden, saying by leaking the memo of his conversation with President Donald Trump to a friend, Comey effectively made himself a civil activist and not a security service director, Politico reported.
