AAA Honors New Canaan Police For Traffic Safety Achievements

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — The  Canaan Police Department and Officer George Caponera were honored recently by AAA Northeast for their outstanding traffic safety programs.

The New Canaan Police Department received a Gold Award, recognized for its active mature driver improvement program, a seatbelt enforcement program, an impaired driving obstacle course for teens, and a child passenger safety seat program, among other initiatives. 

In addition, AAA honored Caponera as a department-nominated Traffic Safety Hero for his motor vehicle law expertise. 

In addition, he led the department in DUI and drug arrests over the past year; and conducted a high amount of quality motor vehicle stops for various safety-related violations.
