A 53-year-old man was arrested for the sexual assault of a spouse or cohabitor in connection with an incident that took place in September.
Noel Brennan of New Canaan was taken into custody on a warrant about 1 p.m. Tuesday, by New Canaan Police following an investigation into a Sept. 12 incident in which police responded to his home for a medical call during a possible domestic incident.
"As a result of the information discovered during this medical call the New Canaan Police traveled to a residence on Richmond Hill Road to conduct an investigation regarding the information learned of a possible domestic dispute," wrote New Canaan police in a statement.
Details of the investigation were not released.
At the time of the September incident, Brennan was issued a summons at the scene for disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear ticket.
The investigation into that incident eventually led to police obtaining a warrant on the sexual assault charge.
He was released on Tuesday on $25,000 bond.
