Krolikowski, formerly a captain, was named interim chief in late June when 36-year veteran Edward Nadriczny retired. Nadriczny had been chief for eight years.

A longtime New Canaan resident, Krolikowski is a 24-year veteran of the police department. The Board of Police Commissioners promoted him during a meeting Wednesday night.

Before his appointment as interim chief, Krolikowski, a married father of three, was a commander of the staff services and operations divisions in addition to being a captain.

Krolikowski has a law degree from Quinnipiac University and is a 2013 MBA candidate at the University of Massachusetts, according to New Canaan police.

He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
