New Canaan Police Arrest Pair Who Fled On Merritt On Drug Charges

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Two men were arrested on drug charges Tuesday after a vehicle being driven erratically fled on the Merritt Parkway when officers attempted to stop it, New Canaan police said.

At about 6 p.m., a New Canaan officer saw a vehicle traveling south on New Norwalk Road near East Avenue swerve over the double yellow line into oncoming northbound traffic, police said. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, which began to pull over but never completely stopped, police said.

The vehicle then continued to travel south on New Norwalk Road and got on the Merritt Parkway, police said. The suspect vehicle eventually got off the parkway and headed into Norwalk, police said.

The vehicle traveled onto a dead end street in Norwalk, where the two occupants were apprehended by Norwalk and New Canaan officers, police said. Officers found pre-packaged marijuana and cash during the arrest, police said.

Omar Figueroa, 31, of 121 S. Main St., Norwalk, the driver, and Lorenzo Javon Glover, 27, of 1203 Stratford Ave., Bridgeport, a passenger, were both taken into custody, police said.

Figueroa was charged with illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription or dispensing of marijuana; possession of marijuana; operating a motor vehicle without a license; reckless driving; failure to drive to the right; failure to obey traffic control signal; and failure to obey an officer's signal.

Glover was charged with illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription or dispensing of marijuana and possession of marijuana.

Bond was set at $10,000 for each man. They were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
