New Canaan Police Officer Injured In Motorcycle Crash

6:30 p.m. Update: NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Police have identified the motorcyclist involved in a crash Tuesday as New Canaan Police Officer Aaron LaTourette, a news release said.

The crash took place at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Oenoke Ridge Road and Country Club Road between LaTourette’s motorcycle and a vehicle, the release said. He was transported to the hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the release said. LaTourette was off duty at the time of the crash, police said. 

The preliminary investigation shows that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said.

LaTourette was traveling north on Oenoke Ridge Road, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said. She was not sure which way the other driver was headed at the time of the accident.

The area where the incident will remain closed until about 6 p.m., and investigators were still on scene at about 4:30 p.m., Ogrinc said.

The accident remained under investigation, the release said.

Original Story: NEW CANAAN, Conn. — New Canaan police officers were investigating a motorcycle crash that took place Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Oenoke Ridge and Country Club Road, police said.

A blue Hyundai also appears to be involved in the crash, police said.

Police blocked off traffic on Oenoke Ridge from Hemlock Hill Road to Turtleback Road.

No further information was available Tuesday afternoon.
