Investigators determined that Lt. Frederic Pickering did commit some violations during his involvement in a physical altercation Feb. 23 at the Tequila Mockingbird Restaurant, the report said. The altercation involved an unnamed person, who reported the incident to the New Canaan Police Department at about 11:45 that night, according to the report.

During the incident, someone in the group with Pickering supposedly used racially offensive language, the report said. According to NBC Connecticut, the investigation revealed that Pickering committed some violations, such as unlawful or oppressive use of authority, but he did not use racially offensive language.

The Tequila Mockingbird Restaurant is located at 6 Forest St., New Canaan.

Pickering was placed on administrative leave in March while police conducted an internal investigation.
