Two Men Wanted In New Canaan For Stealing Mail From Weed Street Mailboxes

NEW CANANN, Conn. -- One of two men suspected of stealing mail from mailboxes Friday was later recorded cashing a check for $467, New Canaan Police said.

Police said the theft was reported shortly after noon in the area of the 200 block of Weed Street. The suspects are two black middle aged males who were driving a black Dodge Charger, police said.

The vehicle was later seen near Karl Chevrolet with the passengers observed dumping mail from the vehicle. An image released by police shows discarded mail under the car.

Just before police were called a suspect had cashed a $467 check at the TD Bank branch, said police, who released images of the suspect recorded by the bank's surveillance system.

The United States Postal Inspectors are assisting in the investigation.
