New Canaan Heads To The Polls For Local Election

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for New Canaan residents to cast their ballots in local race.

First Selectman Robert E. Mallozzi III is running unopposed. Selectman candidates Nick Williams and Beth Jones likely both will be elected, as will Claudia A. Weber, who is running unopposed for town clerk.

Voters also will cast ballots for the Board of Education, Board of Assessment Appeals and  Councilmen, as well as constable.

For those ready to cast their ballots, here are the polling locations in New Canaan:

  • District 1: New Canaan High School, 3 Farm Road
  • District 2: Saxe Middle School, 468 South Ave.
  • District 3: Saxe Middle School 468 South Ave.

Connecticut will allow same-day Election Day voter registration for residents who are not signed up to vote or who want to change the town in which they vote. That registration must be done at Town Hall with a registrar of voters. Proof of residency and identity will be required.

The town of New Canaan has 12,927 registered voters, as of Oct. 3: 6,669 Republicans, 2,564 Democrats, 3,644 unaffiliated and 50 listed as other.
