New Canaan Re-Elects Robert Mallozzi III, Mixes It Up On Town Council

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- First Selectman Robert E. Mallozzi III faced no opposition as he was re-elected Tuesday to his second term in New Canaan, according to official results.

The race in New Canaan was for Town Council, with eight candidates running for six seats. The winners were John Engel, Kevin Moynihan, Bill Walbert and Penny Young, all Republicans, as well as Democrats Kathleen Corbet and Sven Englund. 

Here are other winners, as reported by the secretary of the state's website: 

Re-elected to the Board of Selectmen were Republican Nick Williams and Democrat Beth Jones, who were also running in uncontested races. 

Republican Claudia A. Weber was re-elected town clerk as she ran without opposition. 

Republicans Dionna Carlson, Sangeeta Appel and Jennifer Richardson and Democrats Penny Rashin and Sheri F. West were elected to the Board of Education. 

Republicans Katherine Kane Markiewicz and Patrick J. McLevey and Democrat Wendy Fog were elected to the Board of Assessment Appeals. 

Republicans Austin O. Furst, Van Young, Gregory L. Pepe and John M. Ponterotto and Democrats Cynthia Franco, Ed Vollmer and Arnold Karp were elected constables.
