ATV Crash: 26-Year-Old In Critical Condition, Suspect Charged With DWI After Brookhaven Wreck

A Long Island man is facing DWI charges after he allegedly caused an ATV crash that sent a 26-year-old woman to the hospital.

A Bellport man is facing DWI charges after he allegedly caused an ATV crash in Brookhaven that sent a 26-year-old woman to the hospital on Saturday, June 10.

A Bellport man is facing DWI charges after he allegedly caused an ATV crash in Brookhaven that sent a 26-year-old woman to the hospital on Saturday, June 10.

The crash happened at around 8 p.m. Saturday, June 10, in Brookhaven, on Bellport Avenue near Louise Avenue.

Suffolk County Police said Tayquan Mayodunmore, age 29, of Bellport, was driving the ATV while intoxicated when the vehicle overturned.

The crash caused his passenger, Jessilyn Johnson, of Medford, to strike her head on the pavement, police said.

She was taken by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.

Mayodunmore was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue and treated for minor injuries.

He was later arrested and charged with the following:

  • Driving while intoxicated
  • First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
  • Second-degree reckless endangerment

According to police, neither Mayodunmore nor Johnson were wearing helmets at the time.
