FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Nine elementary schools in Fairfield County are earning high marks in a national rankings report.

Niche.com ranked the "2017 Best Public Elementary Schools in America" based on student test scores, student to teacher ratios, diversity teacher quality, grade school ratings, and school district quality. It also ranked the best elementary schools in each state. 

For its analysis, 48,625 schools nationwide were rated on academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education. Millions of student and parent reviews were also used.

The website produces comprehensive reports to help people decide where to live.

Here are the Top 9 schools in Fairfield County, all of which made the Top 100 in the nation, with both rankings:

  • Green’s Farms School in Westport ranks No. 32 in nation and No. 1 in Connecticut;
  • West School in New Canaan ranks No. 42 in nation and No. 2 in Connecticut;
  • Long Lots School in Westport, ranks No. 51 in nation and No. 3 in Connecticut;
  • South School in New Canaan, ranks No. 53 in nation and No. 4 in Connecticut;
  • King’s Highway Elementary School in Westport ranks No. 66 in nation and No. 5 in Connecticut;
  • Coleytown Elementary School in Westport, ranks No. 70 in nation and No. 6 in Connecticut;
  • East School in New Canaan, ranks No. 71 in nation and No. 7 in Connecticut;
  • Saugatuck Elementary School in Westport ranks No. 78 in nation and No. 8 in Connecticut; and 
  • International School at Dundee in Greenwich, No. 95 in nation, No. 9 in Connecticut.
