New Canaan High School Ranked 15th Best In State

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — New Canaan High School was ranked as the 15th best in the state by U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday.

The school was ranked 15th overall in the state last year as well, however, it dipped nationally from No. 526 in 2012 to No. 544 in 2013.

New Canaan High School was also given a College Readiness Index score of 44.0 out of 100, the report said. That index is a weighted average made up of 25 percent of Advanced Placement participation rate and 75 percent on the quality adjusted Advanced Placement participation rate.

The report says that 99 percent of students are proficient in reading and 98 percent are proficient and math, based on state exit exams.

The magazine evaluated more than 21,000 public high schools across 49 states and Washington, D.C.
