Chelsea Piers In Stamford Hosting Gymnastics Meet This Weekend

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Chelsea Piers Connecticut and Chelsea Piers New York are partnering to host the third annual Winter Challenge gymnastics competition.

More than 1,300 athletes are expected to compete this weekend at a gymnastics meet at Chelsea Piers Connecticut.

The meet, which features events for both boys and girls, will take place this weekend, Feb. 13 and 14, at Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford.

Events are slated to run from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both days.

The girls’ meet will take place in the field house, while the boys’ competition will be held in the gymnastics facility.

Athletes from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Hampshire will be included.

Approximately 1,300 gymnasts will participate, an increase of 550 athletes from last year.

The competition, which is sanctioned by USA Gymnastics, will feature competitors ranging from beginner to advanced level.

“We are excited to be hosting the third annual Winter Challenge, which brings together the strengths of both Chelsea Piers New York and Chelsea Piers Connecticut,” said Greta Wagner, executive director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “Year after year, the event has been a great success and this year we are hosting over 35 teams. We are proud to provide this wonderful opportunity to showcase the region’s extremely talented competitive gymnasts.”
