NEW CANAAN, Conn. - After an up-and-down regular season, the New Canaan High girls basketball team will try to right the ship in the state tournament. The 27th-seeded Rams (10-10) begin play on Monday in the Class LL state tournament after competing for the last several years in Class L.
New Canaan has a long bus ride ahead for its tournament opener, traveling to sixth-seeded Manchester (17-3) for a 6 p.m. game. If the Rams can score the upset on Monday, they would draw the winner of West Haven and Newington.
New Canaan stumbled in the back half of its schedule, losing six of its final eight games. The Rams missed the conference playoffs this season after getting to the semifinals last year.
New Canaan is led by senior Sarah Mannelly and juniors Courtney Rogers and Kelly Armstrong.
