Possible Heavy Rain Heading For New Canaan As Temps Heat Up

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Get ready to batten down the hatches as storms that could produce heavy rains and gusty winds head for Fairfield County Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents should be ready for rain and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning on Tuesday.

The showers and thunderstorms are likely to hit mainly between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., with a 60 percent of rain. New rainfall could reach a half-of-an-inch. 

Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rains, as well as dangerous lightning. 

In addition to the rain, residents should be prepared for continued hot temperatures with a high near 87 degrees, with a heat index reaching upwards of 96 degrees.

Another round of rain is expected Tuesday night with a 50 percent of heavy rain and gusty winds before 3 a.m. 

The sun returns on Wednesday with slightly cooler temperatures with highs in the mid-80s during the day and near 66 degrees overnight.

Rain could return Thursday with a 20 percent chance forecast after 3 p.m. Temperatures will remain in the mid 80s. 

Expect sunny skies Friday along with slightly warmer temperatures with highs reaching once again in the upper 80s.
