NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Fitness instructor Linda Kavanagh is teaming up with 360 Fitness of New Canaan to hold a new spinning workout.
Taken 4 a Ride is a new early morning workout starting on March 3 that combines cycling with high energy music, motivation and fun, ultimately providing cyclers with the mental and physical boost to face the day ahead, a press release said. Kavanagh is a certified group fitness instructor and Mad Dogg Spinning Instructor.
Kavanagh previously worked with YMCA of Westport for and the New Canaan YMCA for 17 years, where she led a spin studio of 30-plus early-risers.
"The success of the class was attributed to more than just the knowledge of the workout itself, but rather, Kavanagh’s ability to reel in her students and provide them with a well thought-out and challenging ride, wrapped in enthusiasm, humor and camaraderie," a press release said.
“As instructors, we get our technical certifications in various concentrations," said Kavanagh. "But there’s no certification for passion, commitment and the ability to motivate people. I love spinning (working out), and most of all, I love spinning with friends. I often tell my classes that I am ‘using’ them, as these classes are just as important to my well-being as they are to theirs.”
The physicality of the high intensity cardio workout is teamed with a more temperate and mindful approach to the workouts.
“Linda's class has changed my life. As a mother of three teenagers and aging parents, I find myself looking for ways to get through the stress. Linda's spin class is my solution," said New Canaan's Whitney Williams. “Her fantastic music, along with her knowledge and encouragement have allowed me to lose weight, gain energy and de-stress! It has become a part of my daily routine. At the end of each class I think ‘now I am ready to face the day.’"
Taken 4 A Ride classes will be held in the spin studio of 360 Fitness at 45 Grove St. in New Canaan. The studio accommodates up to 17 spinners. The class schedule, sign-up and payment can all be found online at the Taken 4 A Ride website.
