A couple from Texas visiting family in Scarsdale parked their Dodge Journey on Greenacres Avenue at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday across from the Hitchcock Presbyterian Church to take a walk along the bike path.
When the family returned to the vehicle, they found that the front driver’s side window had been broken and his wife’s purse had been taken. According to the woman, the purse had been under the passenger’s seat and may have been partially visible from the outside of the car.
The family told police that the purse was a black Coach bag worth approximately $100 with approximately $300 cash and assorted personal papers that includes several credit cards. Police noted that the cards have already been canceled.
Police proceeded to canvass the area, including the bike path, garbage can and the Hartsdale Train Station. The incident is under investigation.
