Its been a great year for Matt Duran and its getting better.
A New Rochelle High School star baseball player, Duran signed a letter of intent earlier this school year to attend Fordham University and play baseball near his hometown.
But Tuesday afternoon, the high school senior was chosen by the hometown New York Yankees in the fourth round of the annual Major League Baseball Draft. Duran, who was chosen as the 149th pick overall, batted and amazing .600 this past spring with 10 home runs and 41 runs batted in the for the Huguenots.
At 6-2, 220 pounds, Duran has power and is an accomplished hitter. He also plays with Hank's Yanks, an 18-and-under summer league team sponsored by Hank Steinbrenner, General Partner of the New York Yankees.
