The play tells the story of aging couple Ethel and Norman thayer, who spend their summers at their home on the pond. The story unfolds as their daughter Chelsea visits them with her fiancé Billy Ray Sr. and his son, Billy Ray Jr. They ask the Thayers to watch Billy Ray Jr. while they visit Europe, which leads to unexpected bonding between Norman and the boy.

Mumford plays the part of Billy Ray Jr. in the production, which is directed by Patrick Kiley of Fairfield. He said he was thrilled when he got the call from the director.

"The opportunity to be in this incredible production with such natural and experienced actors has been far more than I could have ever hoped for right at the beginning of my career," Mumford said.

Mumford decided that acting was for him after seeing his sister Emilia in the lead role of "Peter Pan" in Manhattan in spring 2014. He has since ventured into the world of performing as part of the Western Regional Choir, and has played the roles of "Mr. Mayor" in the seventh-grade play, "Seussical" and Trevor Grayden in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" at The Studio in new Canaan. His interests include literature and reading, particularly the Harry Potter series and Greek mythology.

Mumford is also passionate about his step-father's nonprofit organization, Be Water For Life, where he volunteers and manages social media. He hopes to one day deliver water filters to villages in need of safe, clean drinking water. He was born in Utah and has lived in Las Vegas and Manhattan, and now lives in New Canaan with his mom, step-father and siblings, Emilia and Miles.

The cast of On Golden Pond includes David Jackins as Charlie Martin, the local postman, Nancy Sinacori as Ethel Thayer, Robertson as Chelsea Thayer Wayne, Jeffries as Norman Thayer, Mumford as Billy Ray, and Eric Dino as Bill Ray, Sr.
