SoNo Stroll Benefits Human Services Council's Work In New Canaan

NORWALK, Conn. -- The sixth annual SoNo Stroll to benefit the Norwalk-based Human Services Council of Mid-Fairfield County on Wednesday, June 11, will be a little bit country and a whole lot of fun.

This year’s cocktail reception takes place at the hottest newcomer to the SoNo restaurant scene, Johnny Utah’s South Norwalk, at 80 Washington St. .

The Human Services Council added Western flair, including down-home cooking, line dancing, and mechanical bull riding to their premiere fundraising event that will help them continue to empower, educate, and safeguard the people in the five-town area it serves.

The SoNo Stroll festivities will kick off at 5:30 p.m. at Johnny Utah’s, with friends, delicious appetizers and drinks, plus the chance to corral some amazing live and silent auction items. This year’s selections include: Katy Perry tickets, a week-long stay on a private island on the St. Lawrence River, round trip travel to Nantucket or Cape Cod on a private jet, lodging opportunities in Las Vegas, Vermont, Orlando, and Nantucket, golf foursomes, sports collectibles, summer camp opportunities, a Kindle Fire, a $2500 Porch & Patio gift certificate, and more.

After the cocktail reception, guests will enjoy a three-course dinner from a signature menu at one of the many participating SoNo restaurants. This year’s restaurants include: Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar, The Brew House, Burger Bar & Bistro, Coromandel, Donovan’s, Estia, The Ginger Man, Harbor Lights, Kazu, Match, O’Neill’s Pub & Restaurant, Pasta Nostra, The Spread, and Strada 18.  Tickets are $150 per person.

Proceeds will support the Human Services Council and its five programs. In 2013 alone, the Human Services Council provided direct services to more than 1400 people, and positively touched the lives of over 8,000 individuals in the towns of New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, and Weston.

The Human Services Council is home to: Children’s Connection, the Norwalk Mentor Program, the Dr. Robert E. Appleby School Based Health Centers, the Mid-Fairfield Substance Abuse Coalition, and 40 South Main Street Housing.
