Highlights of the season include popular NPR comedian Paula Poundstone in a one-night only performance. The Hillbenders, fresh from South by Southwest music festival, perform a critically acclaimed bluegrass take on The Who’s Tommy; Singer/Songwriter Rob Mathes brings his critically acclaimed Holiday Concert to Manahattan; the American Showstoppers series celebrates its fifth smash season with programs dedicated to the works of Frank Loesser and Kander & Ebb; Storm Large & Le Bonheur perform cabaret classics, and the critically acclaimed New York Theatre Ballet reveals a new Legends and Visionaries performance.
The center will also present the New York City premieres of The Reduced Shakespeare Company’s William Shakespeare’s Long Lost First Play (abridged) and Jose Maya's Latente: A Flamenco Journey.
Fulbright Senior Scholar Award winner Dr. Janetta Rebold Benton returns with her popular Art History Alive series; bluegrass favorites The Steeldrivers perform Grammy ®-Award- winning favorites; a Halloween weekend screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and many more.
The Schimmel Center is located at One Pace Plaza in Manhattan, with its entrance on Spruce Street.
