The film, “Those Who Wander,” is a coming of age comedy about the truth of being 20 years old and the struggles that come with it, their KickStarter page said. It tells the story of best friends Zoe and Sam, who set off on a spring break road trip with several other friends and what takes place along the way, the page said.
“We have spent almost every second of the past year working to get to this point, and we can guarantee you that we will spend every second of the next few months making sure that this film is made the right way. We're putting everything we have into it, time, money, blood, sweat, tears, and we believe 100 percent that it will be a success,” the two said on their KickStarter page.
Scandiffio and Schwarz have already received a lot of support from New Canaan residents and businesses, including First Selectman Rob Mallozzi III, who makes a cameo in their KickStarter video pitch, and hope that others in town join on and make the film their own as well.
“We really want this to be a community film, and we want to get everyone involved, whatever that means for them,” the KickStarter page said. “Anyone who wants to be involved can be involved and we hope to really make this film a collaborative community effort, and see if we can all do this together!”
As of Tuesday afternoon, the project had raised more than $43,100 since June 20. They seek to raise $70,000 by July 20 at 1:56 p.m., the page said. The only way the project will receive funding is if it reaches its goal in entirety, the website said.
They plan to start filming in New Canaan, Stamford and New York City in August, the page said.
