Bank of New Canaan Hosts Town Police Update

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Community education and communication is important to New Canaan Police Chief Ed Nadriczny. That's why he'll be at The Bank of New Canaan, 208 Elm St., on Thursday, Oct. 13, for a town update. He'll share the spotlight with the town's four-legged officer, K9 Zira.

“The community should know the majority of what we are doing and have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments. That is the basic philosophy of community policing,” Nadriczny says. He wants residents to take the opportunity to learn about the police department's concerns, problems and solutions to different issues and investigations.

After his comments, K9 Unit Officer Mike McFadden and Zira will give a presentation. Funding for the K9 team came directly from the community, and Nadriczny feels this is an excellent opportunity for people to see Zira in action and pose questions.

Zira came to the police force in 2010. An international enforcement officer of sorts, she's a 4-year old German shepherd from the Czech Republic.

The community update event is sponsored by The Bank of New Canaan and will be held at its Elm Street branch. Nadriczny extends his thanks to the bank for hosting the event.

“The community also needs the opportunity to let us know what they are thinking as far as the police department and its activity is concerned,” says Nardiczny.
