Interstate 95 was congested in both directions Friday, and the Merritt Parkway northbound was also log-jammed as commuters tried to make their way home.

According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation website, traffic was delayed for the 27-plus mile stretch between Greenwich and Bridgeport on I-95.

The Northbound Merritt was also moving slowly from Exit 28 to Exit 51, a 29.3-mile stretch between Exit 28 in Greenwich and Exit 51 in Trumbull.

Southbound traffic on I-95 was also congested between Exits 10 and Exits 2 from Darien into Stamford and Greenwich. ConnDOT does not expect the congestion to be relieved for nearly three hours. A disabled motor vehicle at 4:48 p.m. between Exits 4 and 3 helped to cause the southbound congestion.

Commuters in Danbury were also experiencing delays. There was congestion between  Exits 2 and 5 eastbound on Interstate 84, and was expected to last until around 6:30 p.m.

Also, buses were running Friday to shuttle train riders around the malfunctioning Walk Bridge in South Norwalk.
