Original story: FAIRFIELD COUTNY, Conn. - The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Fairfield County lasting until 6 p.m. Tuesday due to a system of heavy rain in the area.

A system coming through the Northeast could produce 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour in some areas. Showers and thunderstorms are to be expected throughout the day.

The rain could cause flash flooding in small streams, urban, low-lying, and poor drainage areas.

In addition to the Flash Flood Watch, the service says that strong thunderstorms through the afternoon will also bring strong winds.

After Tuesday's rain, Wednesday will dawn bright and sunny with high temperatures in the mid-70s.
