HARTSDALE, N.Y. -- A man who was killed Tuesday morning when he was struck by a southbound train leaving the Hartsdale station has been identified as 43-year-old Bradley Ewing of 190 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn.
Ewing's death has been ruled a suicide, according to the Westchester County Medical Examiner's office.
Metro-North Railroad spokeswoman Marjorie Anders said the man may have most recently been living in Hartsdale. He was standing on the tracks just south of the Hartsdale station when he was struck.
Service was suspended on the Harlem line for nearly an hour before being restored at 8:45 a.m., according to Anders.
Police and firefighters were at the scene near Pipeline Road, which runs along the train tracks.
According to several passengers and later the MTA, the incident occurred when the 7:51 from White Plains left the station. Power was cut to allow the rescue train to get the passengers off the train.
Passengers complained that the MTA did not announce the length of the expected delays. Trains north were delayed and full service was not restored until after 10:30 a.m.
