Woman Killed By Amtrak Train Was Crossing Tracks At Fairfield Station

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A 31-year-old Waterbury woman who trying to cross the tracks at the Fairfield station was struck and killed by an Amtrak train just before 6 p.m. Sunday, according to News12 Connecticut.

The woman apparently jumped onto the tracks in an effort to get to the platform on the opposite side at the Metro-North station, News12 said.

She tried to get under the platform when the train hit her in the apparent accident, the report said.

The accident caused delays on Metro-North and Amtrak into Sunday evening.
