A Massachusetts native who was heavily involved in the Connecticut State Little League organization has died at the age of 49. Tolland County resident Everett Demers of Coventry died on Friday, Feb. 17 at the age of 49, according to his obituary. Born in Worcester in 1974, Demers spent much of his childhood in Daytona Beach, Florida before coming back to New England in his late twenties where he worked for Abel Womack as a forklift manager and customer service manager. Friends and family of a 20-year-old Massachusetts woman who died in a hit-and-run crash in Connecticut were stunned and horrified as news of the weekend wreck spread through social media. A well-known man from Fairfield County who owned a beloved store in Northern Westchester has died. Stamford resident Joseph DiPietro, Sr. died on Friday, Feb. 10 at the age of 90, according to his obituary. DiPietro, who lived an "extraordinary life," was the owner of Chubby's Hardware in Pound Ridge located at 68 Westchester Ave., which was named after his childhood nickname, his obituary said. Support is pouring in for the Redding family who lost their 11-year-old son during a raging house fire that also injured their daughter. The blaze began around 11:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14 in Redding at the Karlson family home on Diamond Hill Road, officials said. Authorities have released the identity of a 17-year-old boy who died after falling through the ice at a state park. Dutchess County resident Noah Thompson, of Amenia, was found about 2:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, after police responded to the Taconic State Park on Shagroy Road in the Town of North East for a report of someone who had fallen through the ice. A former teacher who worked for schools in both Northern Westchester and Fairfield County has died. Margaret "Peggy" Beccaria died on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the age of 85, according to her obituary. William Jerome Bellis (Bill), of Darien, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at the age of 92 surrounded by his family. He bravely fought lung cancer for over a year. Former NBA player and coach Paul Silas who lived in Northern Westchester for a period of his life has died. Silas died on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the age of 79, according to a tweet by the Houston Rockets, where Silas' son Stephen, is the team's head coach.
