Catherine Marabella, 95, Former Longtime New Canaan Resident

GLASTONBURY, Conn. - Catherine Marabella, of Glastonbury formerly of New Canaan, died Aug. 7. She was 95.

Marabella was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Stamford to Charles and Victoria Russo Carlino. She lived in New Canaan for 50 years and Stamford for five before moving to Glastonbury in 1992 to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a former member of the New Canaan Seniors, a former Member of the St. Mary’s Seniors, as well as a member of the St. Mary’s prayer group. She worked for many years as a housekeeper in the New Canaan area.

Marabella is survived by her brothers, James DeCarlo, Joseph DeCarlo, Anthony Altamuro, and Felix Altamuro; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; sons, Anthony J. Nicoletti Jr. and Frank Marabella, Jr.; her husbands, Anthony Nicoletti Sr. and Frank Marabella, Sr.; and sister, Mary.

Calling hours are Monday, Aug. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 from the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Aloysius RC Church, 40 Maple St., New Canaan. Interment will follow at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien.
