WESTPORT, Conn. -- James Richard Gilligan, 68, of Westport, died Dec. 16.
He was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Keene, N.H., the son of the late James Lynapp and Pauline (Schorer) Gilligan.
He was a longtime resident of New Canaan and a graduate of the New Canaan High School Class of 1965 and Bentley College Class of 1969.
He was a longtime employee of the New Canaan Post Office.
He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Gilligan of Stamford; a brother, Stephen and his wife Mary of Milton, Mass.; and a sister, Bonnie Kniceley and her husband Clark of Greenville, R.I.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at St Aloysius Church, 21 Cherry St., New Canaan. A burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at noon at the Hoyt Funeral Home,, 199 Main St., New Canaan.
