Joanna Martine Woolfolk, 72, Formerly Of New Canaan, Best Selling Author

STAMFORD, Conn. - Joanna Martine Woolfolk of Stamford, a former New Canaan resident, died Wednesday, May 1. She was 72.

Woolfolk was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Bogota, Colombia, South America, daughter of Rev. John and Marie Galdamez. She lived her childhood in New York City and attended Hunter High School and The City College of New York. In 1967. During her career she wrote for Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Self, Redbook, House Beautiful, YM, Joy, Mirabella, Longevity, and StarScroll International. She was widely published in the United States, Europe and Latin America.

Woolfolk is survived by her sister, Patricia Reynhout; and brother, John Galdamez; her partner, Jim Sgandurra; nephews and nieces; grand-nephews; grand-nieces; and her family in Guatemala and Minnesota. She was predeceased by her husband, William Woolfolk.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29 at the First Presbyterian Church (The Fish Church), 1101 Bedford St. in Stamford.
