NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Patricia J. Henriksson, 83, a New Canaan resident for almost 40 years, died Sunday, March 29.
Born in the Bronx on Aug. 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Duffy and James Quinlivan. She was a longtime member of the New Canaan Women's Club and St. Aloysius Parish. She enjoyed water aerobics at the New Canaan YMCA for many years. She also enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of time spent in South Africa and Botswana. She especially loved her summer vacation in Newport every July.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lennart Henriksson; two daughters, Barbara Vala and her husband, Dennis, of Norwalk, and Beth Linell and her husband, Tom, of Weston; one son, James L. Whelan and his wife, Amanda, of The Woodlands, Texas; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Whelan, and is survived by his twin sister.
The family is receiving friends Tuesday, March 31, from 4-8 p.m. at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
