Police were called to the Chase Bank on Greenwich Avenue at around 3 p.m. on a report of people trying to pass fraudulent checks, according to Greenwich Time. They were given descriptions of two vehicles that suspects were using, and the two cars were stopped near the bank, according to Greenwich Time.
In all, police found 31 counterfeit $100 bills, two fake driver's licenses from Florida, and two fake checks, Greenwich Time reported. One suspect, 26-year-old Janine Gomez of New York City, was charged with 31 counts of forgery in connection with the counterfeit bills, another two counts of forgery for the fake licenses, and a number of conspiracy charges, according to Greenwich Time.
The other four people arrested in connection with the scheme were identified as 29-year-old Juan Martin of Manhattan, 43-year-old Robert Morales of Englewood, N.J., 23-year-old Robert Morales of the Bronx, and 24-year-old Vamara Traore of the Bronx, according to Greenwich Time. All four were charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny and forgery, Greenwich Time reported.
