Man Charged In Theft Attempt From New Canaan Pharmacy

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A Stamford man is facing a pair of larceny charges in New Canaan after being accused of trying to steal baby formula from a downtown store.

Mark Thomas Palazza, 23, of Hope Street, Stamford, was charged Thursday with sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree attempted larceny. Police said a manager at the New Canaan CVS Pharmacy contacted police at about 1:14 p.m. to report she had prevented a man from leaving the store with a bag filled with baby formula.

Police said the manager saw Palazza putting 12 bottles of baby formula, valued at about $230, into a bag. When she confronted him, he allegedly put the bag down, left the store and left the scene in a car. Police contacted the vehicle’s registered owner, who told officers he was not the driver. Police got in contact with Palazza, who turned himself in.

Palazza was released and is scheduled to appear Jan. 10 in Norwalk Superior Court.
