The caller gave police officials a fake name and a date of birth that would have made him 54 years old. He also proceeded to tell them that he had firearms with him, including a shotgun and handguns, the New Canaan Advertiser said.

The caller also told authorities that he was at Weed Street and Sunset Hill Road, but police believe he was either on the Merritt Parkway or on one of the road's overpasses, the New Canaan Advertiser reported.

Officials said other departments received similar phony calls, the New Canaan Advertiser said.
