NEW CANAAN, Conn., -- Two men stole about $1,500 on Christmas Day while they worked as waiters at a New Canaan restaurant, police said.

Mario Montes, 45, of 10 Riverside Ave., and Eduardo Navarro, 50, 12 Girard St., Apt. 1., are each charged with fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy.

Police said the theft at Roger Sherman Inn occurred on Christmas Day and they were called to investigate on Dec. 29 after the approximately $1,500 was discovered missing.

Navarro turned himself into police on Friday afternoon and posted a $10,000 bond. His court date is Feb. 6. Montes turned himself into police Sunday evening and was held for a court appearance Monday after he couldn't post a $10,000 bond.
