RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield native Nicholas M. Donofrio will serve as chairman of the Board of Regents for Higher Education, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Thursday.
In addition to serving on the board since 2012, Donofrio has worked for IBM since 1967. He was named an IBM fellow in 2008, the company's highest technical honor.
“Nick has been a passionate member of the Board of Regents and I am excited that he has accepted this opportunity to serve as its chairman,” Malloy said in a statement. “In particular, his strong connections to the business community will benefit the system in its efforts to connect with important economic sectors and strengthen its focus on preparing our young men and women to have a competitive edge in the global workforce.”
Donofrio holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
In addition to selecting Donofrio to chair the board, Malloy also announced the appointment of JoAnn H. Price of Avon to serve as a board member.
