New Canaan High School Theatre Students Shine At Halo Awards

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Students in the New Canaan High School Theatre Program came home with top awards in four categories in the 14th Annual Halo Awards, which celebrate the best in Connecticut high school theatre.

The Seven Angels Theatre presented the Halo Awards at the Palace Theatre in Waterbury.  

New Canaan High School students attended the awards ceremony on May 31. This year, 64 schools participated. 

The New Canaan High School Theatre Program received a total of 18 nominations, 13 for “The Will Rogers Follies, A Life In Revue” and six for “Feathers in the Wind.”  

New Canaan High won the following awards: 

  • Best Actor in a Contemporary Musical for “The Will Rogers Follies, A Life In Revue” for Joseph Turner, 
  • Best Actor in an Ensemble Play for “Feathers in the Wind” for Ian McPeake, 
  • Best Featured Dancer for “The Will Rogers Follies, A Life In Revue” for Maddie Freidland, and
  • Best Dancing for “The Will Rogers Follies, A Life In Revue.” 
The students also performed “My Favorite Son” from “The Will Rogers Follies, A Life in Revue” at the awards ceremony.

The New Canaan High School Theatre Program has had a successful year of productions, beginning with the fall productions of “The Wizard of OZ” and “Feathers in the Wind;" the winter musical “The Will Rogers Follies, A Life in Revue;” and the spring musical “The World Goes Round."
