Police Search For Driver In Deadly Philadelphia Hit-Run A 44-year-old died after being struck by a runaway driver in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood on Wednesday night, May 29, according to city police.  Authorities said the victim was struck just before midnight while crossing the 1800 block of Torresdale Avenue. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead minutes later, police said.  The suspect vehicle is a silver or blue Honda CRV that fled east on Torresdale.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3180.

Early Morning Pottstown Fire Sends 5 To Hospital, Officials Say Multiple residents are being treated for injuries and smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in Pottstown on Thursday, May 30.  First responders were called to the Robert P. Smith Towers, 501 High Street, just after 6 a.m., according to borough officials.  They arrived to find a blaze on the fifth floor and began "rescue and fire suppression efforts," authorities said.  The state police and Pottstown borough fire marshals are investigating the cause.

Convicted Quakertown Rapist To Spend Nearly 50 Years In Prison, DA Says A Quakertown man was sentenced on Tuesday, May 28 for sexually assaulting two children, according to the District Attorney's Office.  Matias J. Martinez Morales will spend between 18.5 and 47 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, prosecutors said in a release.  Authorities said they launched the investigation in November 2022 when a 16-year-old told Quakertown police that Martinez Morales raped her when she was 4. 30-Year-Old Shot Dead In Doorway Of Philadelphia Home: Authorities City police are investigating a homicide in North Philadelphia on Tuesday night, May 28.  Authorities were called to the 6500 block of Walnut Park Drive around 10:45 p.m., PPD said in a release. 16-Year-Old Brought Gun To Chester High School, Police Say City police were called to Chester High School on Tuesday morning, May 28 after security found a student with a handgun, officials say.  Authorities said the 16-year-old student tried to pass through the school’s security checkpoint with a pistol around 7:50 a.m. The student was detained by the school resource officer, police said.  The firearm was recovered and a juvenile petition is being filed, police added.

Motorcyclist Hit, Killed By Stolen Car In Philadelphia: Police (Updated) Five teenagers were taken into custody after a deadly crash in North Philadelphia on Tuesday night, May 28, city police say.  Authorities said the teens were driving in a stolen Kia on Front Street when they struck a motorcyclist heading west on Hunting Park Avenue.  The motorcyclist, 55-year-old Wilberto Casillas, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.  The five teens fled on foot and were later arrested, according to PPD. Box Truck Overturns On I-95 In Philadelphia Pennsylvania State Police are responding to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia.  A box truck overturned in the southbound lanes near the Academy Road exit, troopers said around 9 a.m., May 29. The truck blocked the right and center lanes, police said.  A school bus without any students onboard was also involved.  Firefighters and EMS were dispatched to the scene, troopers added.

Fourth Suspect Arrested For Attack On Off-Duty Cop In Philadelphia Arthur Jones was arrested by US Marshals in Southwest Philadelphia on Tuesday, May 28.  Jones, 38, was wanted in connection with the assault and robbery of PPD Officer Eric Rodriguez on May 12.  Marshals said he was hiding in a hotel when law enforcement tracked him down around 11:30 a.m. He surrendered without incident, authorities said.  Officials have said several people assaulted Rodriguez on Oxford Street and stole his gun.
